Save Our Aussie Icon - The Great Australian Ugg Boot

Issue 2 - The Australian Sheepskin Association Supporters Newsletter

Wednesday, 18 February 2004

Fellow ugg boot supporters,

Welcome to all of those who have joined our support list since the last issue. We thank you for taking the time to listen and help us with our quest.

It is with great urgency that we send you this message. Last week, Ms Sharryn Jackson MP, made a speech on our behalf to the Australian parliament. We have a copy of this linked from our website. Ms Jackson did a terrific job. She is supported by a number of MP’s who have also taken on our plight including Mr Bob Baldwin MP and Mr Michael Organ MP.

It has come to our attention that discussion of her speech is going to occur any day so we urge all of you to ring your local Member of Parliament’s office and give your vote of support. If you are not sure who your member is then please refer to the Who’s Who section of the Parliament of Australia website. We understand that this may be difficult for our International supporters however, if you do want to pledge your support internationally, then we can suggest the following contacts:

Every day, we are receiving press coverage and as such are grateful to the media. One of the most recent articles is by UK “The Independent” news and is titled: There’s No Business Like Shoe Business. It gives a very good account of the whole debate.
